Welcome to the first month of our group read of Storyland by Amy Jeffs!
This brief post reminds us of what we’ll be reading in July, to be best prepared for the discussion post and essay which will be shared at the end of the month.
If you are interested in the history and mythology of early Britain, particularly if you find the expansive corpus of material a little overwhelming and unwieldy, then this might just be the book for you.
As we read Storyland over the next three months, Amy Jeffs’ expert hand will guide us carefully through multiple millennia of storytelling, drawing us in through her masterful words and beautiful, original, linocut drawings. We’ll explore how all this relates to the history of early medieval Britain, our focus here at Medieval Musings, covering individual themes each month in our essays, reading lists, and discussions.
Before we dive in, I’d welcome your suggestions for any resources that I can create that will be helpful for you while reading the book, whether that’s any ‘beginner’s guides’, lists for further reading, maps, timelines, ‘who’s who’s’, or otherwise.
